Madan Mohan Temple (Sapt Devalaya) in Vrindavan

Vrindavan is known as the city of temples. It has many holy places, and each one has its own special story. However, some temples are very important to Vrindavan itself. The Madan Mohan Temple in Vrindavan is definitely one of these famous temples. People think it is the oldest temple in Vrindavan. In fact, it is believed to be one of the first buildings ever made in the city. So, it has seen many changes over a long time.

History

This temple started way back in the 1500s. A respected holy man named Sanatan Goswami, who followed Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, guided its creation. Some people say that Lord Madan Mohan told a trader to build a temple here. But, Sanatan Goswami was the one who carefully watched over the building of the Madan Mohan Temple.

In 1670 AD, the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb attacked. At that time, King Jai Singh wanted to keep the original statue of Madan Mohan safe. So, he secretly moved it to Jaipur during the night. This was before Aurangzeb attacked the temples in Vrindavan and Mathura. Later, King Gopal Singh moved these holy statues to Karauli. Now, the real statues of the Shri Radha Madan Mohan temple is in the Madan Mohan temple in Karauli, Rajasthan. Then, in 1748 AD, people made a replica of the original statue. This replica was put in the Madan Mohan temple in Vrindavan.

Architecture

The Shri Madan Mohan Temple is very well-known in Vrindavan because it is so old. Its beautiful design shows the amazing skill of the people who built it. Also, every part of the temple shows how much they loved God. Even now, many people from all over the world come to this temple because it feels peaceful. Although it has been here for about 500 years, the temple is still calm and full of spiritual energy for everyone who visits. Therefore, people can still feel the Lord’s presence inside the holy Madan Mohan Mandir.

The temple is built in the Nagara style of architecture. On the bank of Yamuna River, Radha Madan Mohan Temple stands at a height of 50 feet near Kaliya Ghat. It is also one of the most popular Goswami shrines in Uttar Pradesh.

Winter Timings : Morning 7:00 am to 12:00 pm, Evening 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Summer Timings : Morning 6:00 am to 11:00 am, Evening 5:00 pm to 9:30 pm.
