Vrindavan is situated at the bank of Yamuna river. Hence, there are various ghats (river baks) related to lord Krishna here. Let’s know more about these historical ghats here.
- Shri Varah Ghat: This ghat is on the Yamuna River’s bank, in Vrindavan’s southwest. Also, Lord Varahdev is present above the shore. Nearby, you can find Shri Gautam Muni’s ashram
- Kaliyadaman Ghat: Also called Kaliyadah, this ghat is on the Yamuna River. It’s about half a mile north of Varahghat. Shri Krishna defeated Kaliya here. Afterwards, Maharaj Nand gave many cows to Brahmins here for Krishna’s well-being.
- Surya Ghat: Also known as Aditya Ghat, It’s located north of Gopalghat. Furthermore, there is a mound (Aditya Tila) above the ghat. On top of this mound is the Shri Madan Mohan ji Temple, which Shri Sanatan Goswami loved. Additionally, Praskandan Tirtha is also here.
- Yugal Ghat: You can find Yugalghat north of Surya Ghat. On top of this ghat, the old Shri Yugalbihari Temple stands without its top part. Besides this, there is another Jugal Kishore Temple near Keshi Ghat, which also lacks its peak.
- Shri Bihar Ghat: Sribiharghat is situated north of Yugalghat. At this ghat, Shri Radhakrishna and their friends used to bathe and play in the water.
- Shri Andher Ghat: This ghat is located north of Yugalghat. In its garden, Krishna and the Gopis used to play a hiding game. The Gopis would cover their eyes, and Shri Krishna would hide. Sometimes, Shri Kishori ji would also hide, and everyone would look for her.
- Imli Ghat: You’ll find Imlighat Ghat north of Andherghat also known as Gaurangghat. It was under an old tamarind tree, from Krishna’s time, that Shri Chaitanya Dev would chant Hari’s name with love during his stay in Vrindavan.
- Shringar Ghat: Shringarghat is on the Yamuna River’s bank, a little east of Imlitala Ghat. Here, Shri Krishna would decorate his wife, Shri Radhika. Also, Shri Nityanand Prabhu bathed at this ghat during his Vrindavan visit and stayed at Shringarvat above it for some days.
- Shri Govind Ghat: This ghat is situated north, near Shringarghat. After disappearing from Shri Rasmandal, Shri Krishna appeared again in front of the Gopis at this place.
- Chir Ghat: Krishna once climbed a Kadamba tree here, taking the clothes of the bathing Gopikumaris. “Rag” means cloth. Nearby, Krishna rested after killing the demon Keshi. Therefore, this ghat is also called Chain or Chayanghat. You can see Jhudumandal close to it.
- Shri Bhramar Ghat: This ghat is north of Cheerghat. When the boys and girls played here, the sweet smell made their bodies hum like whirlpools. Because of this illusion, the ghat is named Bhramarghat.
- Shri Keshi Ghat: This famous ghat is in the northwest of Sri Vrindavan and north of Bhramarghat. You can have a virtual tour of ghat over here.
- Dhir Samir Ghat: Dhir Samir Ghat is near Kesighat, in the northeast of Sri Vrindavan. When Shri Radhakrishna and their friends would leave, the breeze would become cool and flow gently to serve them.
- Radha Bag Ghat: This ghat is situated in the east of Vrindavan.
- Shri Pani Ghat: It was from this ghat that the Gopis walked across the Yamuna and served tasty food to Maharishi Durvasa.
- Adi Badri Ghat: This ghat is a little south of Panighat. Here, Shri Krishna showed himself as Adi Badri Narayan to the Gopis.
- Shri Rajghat: Rajghat is on the Yamuna River’s bank, south of Adi-Badrighat and in Vrindavan’s southeast. Here, Krishna disguised himself as a sailor and took Shri Radhika and his friends across the Yamuna. When Krishna playfully delayed in the middle of the river, the Gopis pretended to be afraid of Maharaja Kansa and asked him to cross quickly. Hence, it became famous as Rajghat.
