History
The place is related to Sampradaya of Swami Haridas the first Acharya of Haridas sampradaya. He used to live in Nidhivan. He was a great devotee of lord Krishna. Lord krishna and radha appeared before him and merged into one to form a Vigraha (statue) which is situated now a days in Banke Bihari temple.
Such was the power of his devotion. There are total 8 acharyas of the Sampradaya. The 7th Acharya of the sampradaya Swami Lalit Kishori dev ji decided to leave Nidhivan to do mediation in secluded place. He came to this place and his disciples made a boundary out of bamboos sticks (Tatiya in slang) to secure the area. Hence this ashram became known as Tatiya Sthan.
Specialty of the Ashram
The ashram doesn’t use any modern equiment / device and electricity to this day. Oil lamps are still used for light and hand driven fan is there for the deity. This holy place has a statue called Mohini Bihari. It shows a beautiful look of Lord Krishna. Radha Ashtami is the main festival here. Because of this festival, many devotees come from all over India. On this day, the temple is full of people. They want to see the holy slippers and dishes of Swami Haridas Ji.
Also, Tatiya Sthan in Vrindavan helps you feel close to nature. Even though Vrindavan is becoming more like a city, this holy place is still quiet and separate. This is because the priests here follow a special custom.
